Trade Winds

How to read the globe

Every stream on the Trade Winds globe is money moving between two financial centers. Colour tells you the asset class, the particles tell you how much and which way.

Colours

Density, width, speed, direction

A dense, wide, fast stream is a big corridor measured in billions of dollars per day. A thin trickle is a small one. Particles travel in the direction the money moves, so a stream pouring into New York means capital is arriving there. When a flow reverses sign, the stream turns around.

Views

Flows shows the streams and the city markers. Markets labels each city with its index and the day's move. Stocks pins individual companies to their headquarters, sized by market cap. Click the active view again to hide every marker and label and just watch the streams.

Filters

The market-cap slider and sector dropdown narrow which companies are shown. The flow-type chips show one asset class at a time; click the active chip to turn all flows off. Search finds any tracked ticker, company, index or city.

Map styles and lighting

Simple is flat shapes. Detailed adds coastlines, country borders, state lines and a graticule. Satellite uses NASA Blue Marble imagery with city lights on the night side. Heatmap tints the globe by where capital concentrates. Day lights the whole globe; Local Time shows the real terminator so you can see which markets are in daylight.

Rankings, anomalies, scenarios

Rankings list the biggest corridors, net inflow by city, top movers and sector weight (click a sector to filter the globe). Anomalies log unusual moves and surges with a timestamp. Replay scrubs back through the last few minutes. Scenarios reshape the simulated flows into a risk-on rally, a risk-off flight to safety, or a dollar liquidity crunch.

Keyboard
