Privacy and terms
Short version: Trade Winds has no accounts, sets no cookies, sells no data, and stores your settings only in your own browser. Last updated 7 October 2026.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you. There is no sign-up, login or contact form. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views, referrers, country and device type. It is cookieless, does not fingerprint, and does not track you across sites. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, keeps standard server logs (IP address, user agent, time) for security and abuse prevention under its own privacy policy.
What stays in your browser
Your theme, map style, filters, watchlist, alerts, anomaly log and panel layout are saved in your browser's local storage so the globe looks the way you left it. They never leave your device unless you choose Export settings. Clearing site data, or the Reset everything button, removes them.
Third parties the page talks to
- Our quote relay (a Cloudflare Worker) for live prices. It receives a plain request for the latest quotes and nothing about you.
- Google Fonts for typefaces, which receives your IP address when the font files load.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics as described above.
- CoinGecko for the crypto volume mix shown on crypto streams. Your browser requests public 24-hour volume figures; nothing about you is sent.
Prices come from Finnhub through the relay; your browser never contacts Finnhub directly.
Referral links and sponsors
The "Trade on" buttons in a stock's card are referral links to brokers and exchanges. If you open an account through one, Trade Winds may earn a fee, at no cost to you. The broker sets its own cookies once you are on its site; Trade Winds does not. A sponsor line may appear in the top bar. Neither referrals nor sponsors change what the globe shows, which flows are drawn, or how anything is ranked.
Not investment advice
Trade Winds is a visualization. Stock and crypto prices are live but can be delayed or wrong. Index levels and the dollar size of every flow are simulated for illustration. Nothing on the site is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything. Do your own research and talk to a licensed adviser before investing.
Terms of use
You can use Trade Winds for free, personally or commercially, including screenshots and snapshots with the Trade Winds name visible. Please do not scrape the quote relay, resell the data, frame the site to pass it off as your own, or try to break or overload it. The site is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, and Box Of Otters LLC is not liable for losses arising from its use or from decisions made with it. Children
Trade Winds is a general-audience site and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
